Events conspired to interrupt my recording of seminal (and clitoral) interweb linkuals this past week. It's a long story, but if you imagine the plot of The Last Starfighter having a love-child with Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion, it was kind of like that. Which is to say, you won't find so many wondiferous links this week. Please console yourself with the sugar-fat-salt combination of your choice.
But fear not, citizens! Hope yet survives. For example, you can get a tease of the next big game -> movie chimera. Or scare yourself with a Kickstarter success story. How about Ricky Gervais and Elmo chatting? If that's not your cup of chai, you can get randy with Gilbert Gottfried's Audible work. Get a little misty-eyed at an adorable cartoon dragon short. Or finally, learn about the horrible ways humans treat other humans. See? Even when I'm busier than mopper at a spittoon convention, I still give you a bevy full of awesome. You're welcome.
Hot off the heels of this summer's blockbuster hit (term used very, very loosely), it's the movie you've been preparing for for years: Tetris!
Vessel
A short sci-fi horror, funded by Kickstarter. No, the plot isn't the most original, but the beautiful polish and the real terror work. You can see IO9's ongoing coverage of the film here.
Yup, this is just as weird and awe-full as you can imagine. Much like this discussion of panda porn with Jon Stewart.
Gilbert Gottfried Reads 50 Shades of Grey
America's most inappropriate comedian reads everyone's mom's favorite pornographic novel. Works better than a cold shower. Check it out.
A 2nd year film student's project. The future of movies might be okay.
YouTube Launches Human Rights Channel
This effort is "dedicated to curating hours of raw citizen-video documenting human rights stories that are uploaded daily and distributing that to audiences hungry to learn and take action," and "aims to shed light on and contextualize under-reported stories, to record otherwise undocumented abuses, and to amplify previously unheard voices."
View it here and learn to love and hate humanity anew.
